-Ecclesiastes 3:1 New International Version-
Without a doubt, I love comfort! In fact, every day I try to grasp a handful of comfort balls because life changes so quickly. Yes, just when I feel I have one situation settled, the Change Fairy comes and sprinkles, oh, sometimes shovels a huge scoop of stuff right over me. My use of the word “stuff” can easily be translated to a pile of poop!
This week, in a rather strange way, I got reminded of how much I like comfort. I have an old bike lock and had not thrown it away as I like to use items, keep them in good condition, and don’t get rid of them until they really don’t go anymore. When I put the key into my old lock, I got a high level of frustration with it as it seemed super hard to turn. The same feeling I repeatedly had with that darn lock. This time, I said to myself, Done! Out with the old and in with the new!
As I opened my shiny, new lock, and put the key in, voila! I was like, Why didn’t I do this sooner? Aha! Comfort.
Indeed, many times in life, I have tried to turn the same key that use to go in with ease but had now become old and rusty. Comfort got the best of me even when the situation did not work! I eventually received the message that I needed to get a new mechanism. This mechanism might not just be in the form of a lock, but some different friends or a change in career.
This week, remember the value of change. While we need to take care of our stuff, when it becomes so old that we really need to let it go, we might just be surprised at our new finds. A stuck lock, may just be the way The Change Fairy unbolts a world of possibilities!
