-Philippians 4:11 New International Version-
As I have reached the second half of my adventure, I often reflect that I sure had hopes that my life would go in the way that I had planned. Yes, I do make those blueprints, chart my yearly goals, and envision my dreams.
While I have met many of my expectations, some seem elusive. I don’t think that I will never reach those goals, but I just wish they would get here a little quicker. As a kid, I didn’t realize that bills such as the cost of education came before that cool mini-bike my parents bought or the sweet ride I could envision on a gondola in Italy. Now, I know.
Meanwhile, the more I journey, the additional commitment I make to that little, green blob of clay known as Gumby. Indeed, I have been twisted and turned just like him. When I saw my young nephew even pull Gumby apart, which I did not think could or would happen, I said, “Oh, no!”
The twists, turns, pushes, and pulls of life remind me of why I now understand the words a mentor told me years ago, “Hold all things loosely.” At the time, I didn’t quite get what understand what she meant, but now I do. Indeed, people, places, and possessions come and go.
Thankfully, one constant remains. Yes, God never changes. He remains steady. Like the foundation under a house, God stays constant and strong. Thus, I have committed to build my life on Him.
