-John 3:16 New International Version-
Did you ever meet a person who reminds you of the Grinch? You state, "black," this person says, "white." You have your heart set and mention, "Mexican food," while he or she shouts, "Italian food!"
As the holidays approach we seem to see these people particularly at family gatherings. Just like Mr. Grinch tried to take the rhyme and reason from Who-ville, he can almost take the ho, ho, ho, right out of Santa. Lately, the Grinch seems to appear everywhere I go! I would love to escape this dreary individual.
Yet, as I said, the Grinch often comes in the form of family. Recently, just like in Who-ville I have found Mr. Grinch start to steal my holiday appeal. Normally, I want to dance and sing, yes, really do every holiday thing. Yet, Mr. Grinch comes as a thief with a frown, and looks rather like a sad, disenchanted clown.
For a moment, I sit and heavily think, "I wonder if I really need a shrink?" Just a few minutes more before I am sure. The next question comes, and now I know, back to Who-ville I must go!
"Yes, what would I do if I were a Who?" I would gather my soul and my spirit's might, and flash a huge smile of sheer delight! Yes, to Mr. Grinch's dismay, I would have a Godly attitude on full display!
So, this holiday season when he comes to destroy, remember to stop the Grinch's ploy. Take a moment to breathe and maybe two, the Grinch will surely not get you! "Have a Merry Christmas!," shout as to stump, this wacky and wayward mean ol' grump. For God gave his Son, even for him, so shine your light with a gigantic grin!
